I ended up sleeping in until about 10:30am, clearly my body needed the rest; I was still struggling with a cough at this point. Then Mary Beth came to pick me up and we headed out to a Christian Women’s luncheon. There was a speaker from Armstrong Gardens teaching us all about drought resistant succulents.
California is having a major drought right now.. to the point where when you go out to a restaurant, they don’t automatically bring you water. You have to ask for it. There are also signs flashing on the roads encouraging folks to reduce their water usage by 30-25%. It was actually quite educational and it made me want to start growing a few things of my own. Perhaps start with cacti, you know, something low maintenance to get my feet wet. Eventually I’ll move on to herbs and maybe a flower or two. Post luncheon, we headed to the beach to take a little stroll and get our toes wet, then we took Adam to his Karate lesson and went on a little walk through the upper newport bay nature preserve. Back at the house, Adam and I shot some hoops while Mary Beth made us a super tasty dinner.
